Diogenes of Sinope was a Greek philosopher and one of the most famous figures of the Cynic school. He lived in the 4th century BCE and is known for his ascetic lifestyle, emphasizing self-sufficiency and a rejection of material wealth and societal conventions. Diogenes famously carried a lantern in daylight, claiming to be searching for an honest man. He often used humor and paradox to challenge social norms and engage in public acts of philosophical provocation.
