Diogenes

Diogenes of Sinope was a Greek philosopher and one of the most famous figures of the Cynic school. He lived in the 4th century BCE and is known for his ascetic lifestyle, emphasizing self-sufficiency and a rejection of material wealth and societal conventions. Diogenes famously carried a lantern in daylight, claiming to be searching for an honest man. He often used humor and paradox to challenge social norms and engage in public acts of philosophical provocation. His life and teachings championed the idea of living in accordance with nature and virtue, influencing later philosophical thought.
