Camilla Collett (1813-1895) was a Norwegian writer and a pioneering feminist figure in Scandinavia. She is best known for her novel "The District Governor's Daughters" (1854-1855), which critiques societal norms and gender roles, marking a significant contribution to early feminist literature in Norway. Raised in a prominent intellectual family, she was the sister of the poet Henrik Wergeland. Throughout her life, Collett actively campaigned for women's rights and education, influencing future generations of feminists in Norway. Her work combined both narrative artistry and sociopolitical advocacy, underscoring her legacy as a key figure in the cultural and feminist history of Norway.
